Marijuana has been proven to have a lot of medicinal properties, actually. While it is a drug, it's one of the safest ones out there. (Provided it's not laced with anything.) It's not addictive at all -- I haven't had weed in months, and I really don't care. It relieves certain things such as seizures, migraines/headaches, and glaucoma. It's also used on cancer patients to relieve their pain to a degree and increase their appetite (depending on the strain of weed). It doesn't cause hallucinations, there are hardly any negative side-effects (dry mouth really about it), and it doesn't alter your personality very much like alcohol or other drugs. (It makes you lucid and goofy at the most.)

I'd go into much more detailed reasoning than that, but I think I've established my point.

Taken in forms other than smoking. Smoking anything is bad for you.
