I wholeheartedly disagree; I was bored through my run of Black because it was all still the same thing, just with a sprite change and level design change. It didn't feel new at all, but "Been there, done that." There was more story, yes, but it was the same old thing it always is. Nothing's changed, except the games getting extremely linear lately.
