Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - Gollum - 11-08-2010 Ever seen a scene that made you go with awe?Awe can be caused by beauty, fear, sorrow, amazement, etc. Anything? Except for when I watched the 2010 E3 gameplay for Deadspace 2. Though I was saying "holy shit" more because it was kinda funny, but it would've been super scary if I were actually playing. RE: Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - Helmo - 11-08-2010 I need to play more awe inspiring games, mole mania when saving your family, and plenty of pokemon ones. RE: Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - Shadowth117 - 11-08-2010 I doubt many people here have seen this one, but I loved this particular cutscene from Halo Wars: Not only was the CG done to what could easily be called cinematic quality in that game for every cutscene, but this one stands out as particularly epic to me just because of how well it plays out in general. Honestly, I really wouldn't mind seeing the team that did the cutscenes for the game make a whole movie. RE: Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - Cobalt Blue - 11-08-2010 shenmue. as a whole. RE: Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - Omegajak - 11-08-2010 Jehuty vs Anubis (Z.O.E 2) RE: Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - Sol - 11-08-2010 The scene in Ico where he jumps across the bridge and Yorda tries to pull him up. RE: Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - TomGuycott - 11-09-2010 I liked the cutscene from Final Fantasy IX where they were being chased by Black Waltz No. 3.
The Jumi are people who have "cores" that are precious stones in their chests, and they are hunted by jewel thieves (although only one thief is ever-present, others are kind of implied). By the last segment of the story there are only three left, two of whom you can pick one of to accompany you in the final level of this story. The last level is filled with ghost memories of the particular Jumi you actually got to meet and who died through the story, and the whole level has this depressing piano with violin accompaniment. To top that all off, when you get to the top it turns out the Jewel Thief killed the character you didn't take with you, and after the big battle your character starts to cry, and then they turn to stone because of a curse related for crying for the Jumi. Of course it's all kind of offset by the fact that the Jewel Thief works for a Giant-Space-Flea-From-Nowhere who has literally 2 lines of dialogue and has NO character entry in the character log (while even the most useless, non-talking NPCs even have a small page), and to top that all off there's a Carebears ending where crying for the Jumi brings them all back to life and then they cry for the main character to bring him back to life.
RE: Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - GrooveMan.exe - 11-09-2010 When I first pressed the Boost button in F-Zero GX OH GOOOOOOOOOOD SO FAST RE: Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - Nindo - 11-09-2010 Fight with Vile/Zero's Death from Mega Man X not going to lie, that scene is a tear-jerker RE: Most awe inspiring thing you've seen in games? - Chutzpar - 11-09-2010 This was kinda cooler because it wasn't a scripted moment, it happened by accident As part of a mission in GTA4 there's this huge shootout in the docks when I got around to doing it, it was pitch black, slashing with rain and Pruit Igoe was playing aw yeah You know what should've been awe-inspiring? The Sacrifice but it was kinda tame as I remember it it was like "Yeah your friend's dead now, off you pop" the comic made me tear up though :C |
